This is a photo posted by an Instagram account. The author arranged and captured this image, intending to convey a message to all of us. It’s that a drop of water each day, over time, can form a lake. Just a tiny hole the size of a needle can eventually sink a boat. Each day, one piece of trash is discarded into the environment, and over time, it will destroy our shared home, the Earth. What do you think about this photo and the author’s message?
"Do you ever stop to think about what you throw away in the course of a week? This is the premise of “7 Days of Garbage,” for which I asked friends, family, neighbors and anyone else I could convince to save their trash for a week and then lie down and be photographed in it. My mother and her boyfriend agreed (a little reluctantly!) to participate, but in the end mom called the shoot a memorable experience. I created the beach set in my yard, along with several other environments referencing nature (water, snow, forest). I think of these garbage portraits as instant archeology, preserving the legacy of consumer culture in which we are at once victims and perpetrators".
